Aluminium spits are easier to work with, especially during shoulder-height work. The steel tip is required if the spit is used to strike and chop. An aluminium tool does not rust, can tolerate the cold better and is also much more elastic than a tool made of steel. It can be bent approximately three times as much as a steel tool without becoming deformed.
