In addition to diluting and flushing Cederroth’s buffered eyewash also has a neutralising effect on alkalis and acids. The effect is generally stronger for alkalis than for acids. An unbuffered wash solution works simply by diluting alkalis and acids and flushing them out,which requires large amounts of fluid and thus a relatively longer amount of time for flushing.
